5th Grade Book Trailers

Our fifth graders had a 20 book reading challenge this year. At the end of the year-- students picked their favorite book to create a book trailer for.

Students previewed book trailers and came up with a criteria of what makes a good book trailer. In class, students mapped out their story and wrote a script for their book trailer. We then used our scripts to create a story board for our book trailer.

In library, I taught students about why citing images is important and then taught students how to find images and cite our images citations.

Students then learned how to create iMovies and created a book trailer. Check out our work!

3rd Grade Podcasts

In 3rd grade students researched people that changed history in class. Each class practiced doing research on some history makers-- then students picked a person they were interested in researching.
In library, we learned about podcasts and what makes them enjoyable to listen to. Students spent a week listening to podcasts and brainstormed what they liked about listening. The following week, students learned about the structure of a podcast. They discovered that podcasts usually:
  • Have a catchy introduction
    • Give the host's same
    • Give the name of the podcast
    • What we are going to talk about today
  • Information about topic
    • Give information about your topic
  • Conclusion
    • Thank the audience
    • Ask audience to join next time
We then recorded our podcasts and added music using the app PODBEAN

2nd Grade Green Screens

This year in 2nd graders learned letter writing in class. They then wrote a letter to their third grade teacher giving information about themselves. Students then practiced reading their writing and created a video to share.

We then learned about Green Screen technology and used Green Screens to record students reading their letters. Students learned how to use the camera to record each other. Then they learned how to find an image and save a photo to the iPad. We then used Green Screen by Do Ink to create their own video with a background that matched their text. Students did ALL of the filming themselves, chose an online image and then used the app Green Screen by Do Ink to share their learning. Enjoy our projects! 6th Grade Websites

Sixth graders have been leaning about the Fur Trade in their Social Studies Class. Students typed their entries up in class, and their teacher and I worked with them to create a website using google sites.

For their final project, students were asked to journal in the voice of a voyageur  showing what they know about the fur trade.
