Our 3rd grade students recently wrapped up an exciting research and podcasting project that combined history, technology, and creativity!
In the classroom, students began by exploring influential people who have changed history. Each class practiced research skills together before students chose a historical figure they were especially interested in learning more about.
In the library, we shifted our focus to podcasts. What they are and what makes them fun and engaging to listen to. Students spent a week listening to a variety of podcasts and brainstorming what stood out to them as listeners.
The following week, students learned about the structure of a strong podcast. They discovered that most podcasts include:
- A catchy introduction
- The host’s name
- The name of the podcast
- A preview of the episode topic
- Clear and interesting information about the topic
- A thoughtful conclusion
- A thank you to the audience
- An invitation to listen again next time
With this knowledge, students wrote and recorded their own podcasts about their chosen historical figures. Using the Podbean app, they even added music to make their episodes sound polished and professional.
We are so proud of their hard work and creativity—take a moment to listen and check out their amazing work!
